Nous commençons la semaine avec le verbe retarder (to delay, to postpone, to set back; to make [someone] late; to be slow [watch, clock]).

Exemple 1 : Theresa May retarde le vote sur Brexit. Theresa May delays the Brexit vote.

Exemple 2 : Ils avaient déjà retardé la fermeture de la centrale nucléaire de deux mois. They had already postponed the closure of the nuclear power station by two months.

Exemple 3 : Nous avons été retardés par le mauvais temps. We got delayed by the bad weather. 

Exemple 4 : Je crois que ta montre retarde. I think your watch is slow.
